Smoke alarms save Bluefield family from house fire
Five family members escaped a fully involved two story blaze at 642 Augusta Ave as smoke detectors alerted their alarms early. Firefighters arrived at 3:25 am, contained the fire in 24 minutes, with damage estimated at 50,000 dollars. Rodney Green owned the home. Fire officials stressed the value of working detectors.
