Robbery: Two men steal wagon with explosives in Bluefield
Two unnamed African American men, not yet apprehended, stole the Bluefield Hardware Company wagon from driver Henry yesterday. They lured him away by throwing stones as the wagon left the South Bluefield magazine with a large explosives load, then drove recklessly before fleeing. No injuries reported.

Young helper falls from tram car injuring arm and leg
Hubberd Perkins, a young employee at Widemouth on contracting work, fell from a tram car yesterday afternoon. The wheels passed over his right arm, breaking it, and tore open his right leg from thigh to calf. He was brought to St Luke's Hospital and is reported getting along as well as could be expected.

Roanoke Boy Maurice Francis Shot In Ambush
Maurice Francis, a well known Roanoke youth, was murdered in Floyd county on Saturday afternoon. He left Roanoke by buggy to visit his fiancee near Simpsons and was shot within a mile of her home, dying at 2:30 a.m. at W. M. Kropff’s house. Bloodhounds were requested and Gov. Montague may be asked to offer a reward, supplemented by friends. He was 29, a molder by trade, and a Roanoke Machine Worker employee living with his mother and brothers, including Capt. Henry L Francis of the Roanoke Light Infantry.
