McDowell man arraigned on multiple sex abuse charges

John Perdue 35 of Welch was arraigned Monday before a McDowell County magistrate on 15 counts of sexual abuse by a parent or custodian, 15 counts of first degree sexual assault and seven counts of first degree sexual abuse. He was arrested April 26 at his home and faced a preliminary hearing expected today, according to Senior Trooper B J Garretson.

Chicory Square Concert Series Plans Expanded for 2009

Bluefield organizers gear up for the 21st annual Downtown Chicory Square Concert Series returning next month. The Bluefield Daily Telegraph and the city Fine Arts Commission co sponsor the 14 week events with the Downtown Merchants Association and volunteers. New activities include Football Friday Baseball Friday and Media Day promotions plus days honoring civic clubs such as Red Hat Society Rotary Kiwanis and garden clubs. Children's activities like face painting are also planned during the weekly concerts. Local clubs and civic groups are invited to participate.
