Jennings Edmund Bowles 24 of Narrows Virginia was found dead in bed from suffocation after his mattress caught fire while he smoked in bed. His body was removed by his father Clayton Bowles and brother Eugene, with Dr. E S Carr pronouncing death. Funeral services are set for Friday at 2 PM from the First Christian church with burial in Fairview cemetery.

Harold W. Ferrow of Mechanicsburg R D 4, a 25 year old World War II veteran, landed the largest trout ever reported in Pennsylvania. He said he caught a 10 pound 31% inch brown trout at Silver Spring dam in Cumberland County. The state fish commission confirmed it is the biggest brown trout on record in the state.
