Los Angeles April 27. A sailor, survivor of the dinner party, told sheriff's officers that William Howard, former naval reserve officer, shot Paul Ivar and later wounded Henry Bolte before killing himself. The sailor, N C McDermitt, said he was outside when Ivar was shot and fled after seeing the designer’s foster mother with the dying man. He was exonerated from participation but held for absence without leave.
