Gov. Jim Justice said outdoor dining could resume within seven to 14 days with safety protocols. Dining may face 50 percent capacity, single tables, masks for servers, disposable menus, and canned drinks. Day care centers could reopen soon to aid workers as hospitals resume routine services.
A Mercer County man was arrested and arraigned on charges including first degree sexual assault after a forensic interview indicated a 3 year old victim disclosed assault by Brandon L. Williams 21, a visitor at her home. Police say the interview occurred March 12 at Child Protect of Mercer County and Williams faced multiple counts.
Governor Ralph Northam said Virginia could begin easing COVID- 19 restrictions as early as May 8. He announced a COVID-19 business task force and the Forward Virginia blueprint with no regional opening plan and no current timing for statewide reopening.
Mercer County Sheriff's Sgt. AM Ballard reports a 24-hour speed survey on U S 460 near Locust Street in Princeton shows 77 percent of vehicles over the limit and about 20 percent at reckless speeds while overall traffic fell by more than half during pandemic measures. The box mounted on a pole uses radar to monitor speeds.
