Four positive COVID-19 cases in Tazewell County have been released from quarantine and recovered. Eastern District Supervisor Charlie Stacy confirmed the news. The last positive case was reported April 7, with no new confirmed cases since.
Bluefield Va teachers adapt to school closures during the coronavirus outbreak. Kindergarten teacher Brittany Holt at Abbs Valley Boissevain Elementary School created a Facebook group for her students before closures to continue instruction and engagement.
Gov. Jim Justice said the West Virginia June 9 Primary Election is on track and voters should vote in person rather than by absentee ballot. The primary was moved from May 12 due to coronavirus concerns, and officials warn against nonessential absentee voting while ballots are already being mailed.
Tazewell County, Virginia, projects an 850000 dollar general fund shortfall for the current year and a 35 to 50 million dollar gap in the school system due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The budget committee cites lost sales tax revenue from the shutdown as the main cause and notes no state aid is yet in sight. Eastern District Supervisor Charlie Stacy comments on the initial projections.
