Fatality in Jaeger crash on Route 52
One person died at the scene in a head-on crash on U S Route 52 in Jaeger. Four others were injured, with at least one flown by helicopter to a hospital outside the region and two of the injured being children. Authorities withheld the victim’s identity pending next of kin notification. The crash involved a small car and a van and the cause remained under investigation.

Roseanna Coomes, 67, pleaded guilty in federal court to embezzling over 1 million dollars from Cole Truck Parts and using funds for family needs including her daughter's Cupcake Kisses bakery. A Mercer County Circuit Court civil hearing in Cole Truck Parts vs. Coomes addressed potential restitution. Detective K L Adams noted checks totaling more than 54 000 dollars were issued to Jessica Coomes Johnson, owner of the bakery near Princeton.

Man guilty of double murder sentenced to two life terms
In McDowell County, Michael Kennedy, 34, was sentenced to consecutive life terms for the 2017 murders of his estranged wife and her son. Convicted Jan. 18 of two counts felony first degree murder, the jury did not recommend mercy, making him ineligible for parole after 15 years.
