Mountain Mission School marks 100 years serving Grundy Va
MMS in Grundy celebrates a century since opening in 1921. The school trace s back to 1888 when Sam Hurley vowed to build a place for children in need after a life threatening encounter with a mountain lion. Since then, the campus expanded with Hurley Hall Parker Hall and Toddler Hall. About 200 to 230 students aged 18 months to 20 years are taught by around 50 staff, with alumni and students from 80 countries. Chris Mitchell, MMS President since 2019 and former CFO since 2012, says he is grateful for the work God has done over 100 years.
