Robert A. Gonano former Pan Coal and Coke Company book keeper confessed in McDowell county circuit court to larceny of about 4000 dollars from the firm for personal use. Four indictments were returned earlier this week including robbery and embezzlement. the larceny plea led to a five year penitentiary sentence.

Abe Hyman from Yukon visited Welch while Sam Iafolla, hospitalized for six weeks after appendicitis, returned home still recovering. Occupants Narrowly Escape After Fire Destroys Jaeger Building
A three story frame building owned by Henry Rowe on West Virginia avenue in Jaeger burned early yesterday. The fire caused about 12000 in damage with Rowe losing 7000 in the structure and 1500 in tools. only 4000 of insurance was carried. The Christian family of the bottom floor escaped after being alerted as flames consumed Rowe's cabinet shop and living space. The blaze, the fifth major fire in Jaeger in 2 1/2 years, origin unknown.

Widening Hard Road Near Ceres Begun
State road forces have begun widening the macadam road between this place and Bluefield for a summer long project. Repairs and shaping of the Rock to Matoaka road also started and will continue for two to three months. County crews prepare to repair and improve roads for spring and summer traffic. The Princeton Beckley road leading to Camp Creek was dragged and smoothed, with work completed last week leaving the Spanishburg road in fair condition awaiting final dressing.

City Council Defers Bond Vote and Considers Library Funds
