Industrial Park to open by year’s end in Bluefield

Mercer County officials aim to promote natural gas at the Cumberland Industrial Park in Bluefield by year’s end. Ongoing work along John Nash Boulevard links with I 77 and the King Coal Highway, including more than five miles of natural gas line. Construction began in November.

Keep Mercer Clean still going strong

Volunteers in the Keep Mercer Clean campaign are reducing litter across Mercer County. Over the last three weekends four dumpsters were filled at Lashmeet Matoaka School and three dumpsters at Brushfork Elementary, per the coordinator.

Timberwood Elementary opens after culture shift for Mercer students

Mercer County plans a new Timberwood Elementary off Route 123 in Brushfork replacing Bluewell and Brushfork schools. Principal-elect Dr. Sarah Grose and board members toured the nearly complete two story building with a large gym, separate cafeteria and an elevator, noting flood and heating relief and the excitement for students facing a big change.
