William M. Olin secretary of state for fifteen years and a Republican died of pneumonia in Boston. Born 1845 in Warrenton Georgia he moved to Massachusetts in 1860 and served in the Civil War with the thirty sixth Massachusetts infantry from 1862.
The Rev. McNeeley DubBoise, prominent Episcopal rector and former rector of St. Mary’s College in Raleigh, drowned in the Catawba River near Morganton while duck hunting. The accident occurred on April 14 and he had served for several years as rector at St. Mary’s College and ministered to many pulpits across the region.
