Welch West Virginia April 14 federal officers and state police charged Jia Freeman and Calvin Harman both of Skymusty with breaking and entering the Skygusty post office. Investigators withheld details on what was taken as the probe continues.
Welch Rotarians and their Rotary Anns anticipate Friday night’s annual Ladies Night featuring Tommy Richardson of Williamsport Pa as after dinner humorist speaker. Dinner starts at 7 with dancing to Jimmy Livingston and his orchestra. Joseph M Crockett, president, presides as toastmaster at the Memorial building.
Welch West Virginia April 14 the McDowell county board of education may cut two Northfork school buses unless two qualified drivers are found by Friday. Transportation chief IL J Powell says applicants must be 21 to 50, pass a physical, and state police checks. Between 200 and 300 pupils could lose bus service, with no transport for those within two miles of a school. The district runs six buses to Northfork. elimination would reduce service by one third.

Miss Kate Ellen Gruver, Palestine missionary since 1938, spoke at College Avenue Baptist Church last night describing current Holy Land conditions. She completed a speaking tour of the area and plans to return to Palestine soon, after visiting Nazareth, Haifa and Jerusalem during her Near East work.
Residents watched rain swollen rivers as flood control dams limited damage. Forecasters predicted a crest of 30 feet at the Point where the Monongahela and Allegheny join to form the Ohio, with only slight damage reported so far. Six western Pennsylvania reservoirs held back over 70 billion gallons, and two dams limited the crest by about three feet.
Kenyon College in Gambier Ohio suspended its quarterly magazine Hika after firing the editorial board over a short story about adolescent love with a high school girl. President Gordon K. Chalmers and Dean Frank Bailey called the piece improper and in bad taste. Walter Elder of Springfield wrote the story. Discharged editors included Oscar Willlame Newport News Virginia John Kirby Washington D C and Cameron McCauley Grand Rapids Michigan. The student body remains nearly six hundred strong.

Mills of Kimball McDowell county withdrew today as a Democratic candidate for state Senate from the Reagan district. The move leaves Senator William L. Mitchell of Welch unopposed for renomination, with Republican challenger J. G. Hunt of Welch also seeking the nomination.

GM negotiations stalled by a company union row over upcoming shop elections affect 225000 GM employees. Neither company commented.
