High court case could reshape West Virginia homeless policy

West Virginia advocates say a forthcoming Supreme Court ruling on the Grants Pass camping ban may set nationwide guidance on homelessness law. The case asks if generally applicable public camping bans against sleeping outside violate the Eighth Amendment, with amicus briefs from four WV groups and over 100 in total. Proponents warn a ruling for the city could enable more bans, while supporters argue for housing and services to end homelessness.
