Washington reports that Filipino resistance has produced vast casualties with up to 25,000 deaths feared and possibly 50,000. US figures show 50,000 Filipinos for the lowest casualty estimate and 7,667 rifles plus 605 M2 rounds seized. Since November 30 last, 6,600 more have been captured or surrendered and 2,634 rifles turned in.
Pottery workers in East Liverpool Ohio and thirty plants threaten a strike and warehouse girls union vows to win another raise or shut down the plant. Pottery plants nationwide will be affected as workers earn around ten dollars daily and accuse prosperity of going to their heads. Brotherhood to act on Saturdays.
Washington April 11 Boyd Walase, the negro convicted of murdering his half brother Robert Stafford, faces execution tomorrow. He remains unshaken, laughing and joking as if before a holiday, despite a recently denied motion for a new trial.

Washington April 11 reports say Senator Scott and Senator Elkins disagree on who should be the judge for West Virginia’s new southern district. Ex Gov Atkinson will not be the judge but will be district attorney. Possible nominees include Keller Gaines Jackson Vinson and Miller with Maj C D Elliott slated as marshal. The final judge choice remains unsettled.
Washington reports the Cuban constitutional convention prolongs an unsatisfactory delay regarding the Platt amendment. Officials fear a deliberate tactic to keep Cuba's future open and embarrass the United States while some Cuban patriots seek personal gain. Marion Kovoke of T. M. Thompson millinery in Chicago credits Chamberlain's Cough Remedy with rapid relief from a severe cold that kept her awake and hindered work. She bought the remedy after observing a milliner’s quick recovery and says she is now entirely well. For sale by H. N. White.
The Morning Star notes the death of James S Daggett a 21 year old Wilmington man killed after contact with an electric wire He had left Wilmington two years ago and is mourned by his mother sister and brothers Mrs J B Norwood Newberry DC Walter H Daggett Wilmington W W Daggett Pulaski City Va and Miss Beth Daggett of Wilmington express deep sympathy.
In Birmingham Alabama on April 11 white linemen and a telephone company settled a dispute over employing black workers. An agreement allows separate negro crews while white linemen resume work today.
Chicago April 11 Armour Institute, built on foundations of Philip D Agrimour, gains a $1,000,000 endowment from Mrs P D Armour and J Ogden Armour widow and son of the founder. Also notices urge shopping at Bluefield Mercantile Co and advertise 47 Vive Camera 5x7 inches daylight landing from Mebane & Thornton near Passenger Station.
The stock of clothing shoes and furnishings has been moved to Horton Building No 20 Blind Street due to crowding. Special prices on queensware and lowest prices on shoes are offered to clear stock while a full line of clothing gents furnishings and shoes is kept. Julia Marlowe and Car lisle shoes highlighted.

Chas C Ellie of Lisbon Indiana reported a flood washed down a telegraph line and left him waist deep in icy water. He contracted a terrible cold that worsened daily until doctors in Oakland Nebraska Sioux City and Omaha diagnosed consumption. After using Dr Kings New Discovery he was wholly cured in six bottles, a remedy guaranteed for coughs colds and all throat and lung troubles, sold by all druggists at 60 cents and one dollar.
Washington April 11 An early step toward reclassifying salaries for post office clerks in West Virginia and other states follows the new postal appropriation act effective July 1. The move seeks regular promotion and higher minimums, with initial estimates placing second class offices at about 400 to 500 and first class offices at 600. West Virginia, with many first and second class offices, will be heavily affected as reports and applications come in slowly and annual readjustments proceed. Last year nearly 575 post offices were in presidential class and West Virginia was well represented.
Representatives of the Empire Coal Mining Company and coal owners led by Judge D B Griggs arranged for the final closing of a deal on 30 000 acres of coal in Belmont Ohio. One million dollars is on deposit in Wheeling and St Clairsville for the purchase.
