TAZEWELL Va A funding source for economic development in Southwest Virginia is ended with no replacement. The General Assembly voted to end the Coal Employment and Production Incentive and Coalfield Employment Enhancement tax credits after 2021 and prohibit allocation after Jan 1 2022. The roughly 7.5 million dollar annual source supported VCEDA and local small businesses. Governors plan to divert funds to UVA Wise was rejected by the Senate. local boards in Tazewell Buchanan and Russell counties oppose the move.

Virginia approves marijuana legalization changes effective July
