Six Die as Palm Sunday Church Blast Level Marion

A church blast during Palm Sunday services at St Mary's Catholic Church in Marion killed six elderly worshippers and injured about 50 as roof and walls collapsed. Pastor Father Joseph Zimmerman, trapped then freed with minor injuries, aided rescue while hospitals and private vehicles rushed the injured to Sioux Falls and Mitchell.

Germans Cool To Peace Pact As Statute Quietly Offered

Bonn reports the occupation statute as a substitute peace treaty for west Germany received coolly by the German public and press. It promises limited self government but retains strict controls on trade and industrial research.
