New River Valley jail dedication brings regional cooperation
More than 300 people gathered in Dublin as the New River Valley Regional Jail officially opened. The $40 million facility serves Bland Wythe Grayson Carroll Giles Pulaski Floyd counties and Radford city, enabling seven communities to close their smaller jails and cut annual operating costs of $5 to $6 million while creating roughly 150 jobs. Thompson Litton of Wise was lead architect and Brown & Root served as construction manager. Lt. Gov. John Hager attended and Douglas Bills gave the invocation before tours and remarks.
