Turtle finally swims straight in ninja fin suit

In South Padre Island Texas Sea Turtle Inc workers fitted five year old rescued green sea turtle Allison with a neoprene ninja suit that holds a carbon fiber fin as a rudder enabling a straight swim. Earlier prosthetic attempts failed and Allison previously swam only in circles with her remaining flipper.

Bluefield native named to key position in DOJ

Mercer County native H. Marshall Jarrett, a former Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of West Virginia, was named by Attorney General Eric Holder to head the Executive Office for United States Attorneys. Holder also named Kenneth E. Melson as acting head of ATF and Mary Patrice Brown as acting head of the Office of Professional Responsibility.

Rates on the Rise in Tazewell County PSA

The Tazewell County Public Service Authority approves a $1.50 base rate hike for water and sewer starting April 13 billing. The 150 new cents brings the 1,500 gallon water base to 19.50 to offset Appalachian Power rate increases approved by the Virginia State Corporation Commission. Damon Ball cites AEP as the main driver while stressing low service costs.

Double homicide suspect sought in Bath County Va

Bath County authorities post a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Beacher F Hackney 59 of Covington Va in a March 21 double homicide at the Homestead resort in Hot Springs Va. Victims Ronnie Stinnett 60 and Dwight Kerr 39 were identified as the deceased supervisors.
