WHIS Radio Bluefield’s 45 Year Broadcast Journey
The WHIS station tale begins December 27 1966 with O C Young signing on at the new Broadcast Center. It traces founder Hugh Ike Shott Sr and Jim Shott Jr from 1922 when WHAJ later WHIS launched, through early live broadcasts, notable trials, community fundraisers, and a rise to NBC Blue network affiliation.
