Governor Jim Justice said during a briefing that a coronavirus hotspot has been identified in Berkeley and Jefferson counties in the Eastern Panhandle. About 60 positive tests are reported so far with limited details available.
Virginia Governor Ralph Northam cautioned residents still ignoring social distancing and gathering in large crowds. He said such acts violate the Stay at Home order as cases rose to 2012 with 312 hospitalizations and 46 deaths in the Commonwealth.
A U S senator called Friday for a congressional hearing into Dr. Jonathan Yates charged in a criminal complaint with sexually molesting a veteran while he worked at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center Beckley. Yates 51 of Bluefield Virginia was arrested at home by FBI and VAOIG agents with Bluefield police assist.
The Virginia Department of Health confirms two coronavirus cases in Tazewell County located in the Eastern Bluefield district and the Western Cedar Bluff district. County leaders say details on exact locations will not be released. The board authorized use of a 500000 reserve to cover COVID expenses and urged social distancing and hand washing.
