Fire Hits Dante School in Russell County Blaze

A large fire destroyed Dante High School in Russell County Virginia on Wednesday night. It was the second county high school loss in under three months after Castlewood burned January 24. Firemen aided by a Clinchfield locomotive crew fought the blaze, which started in the library and spread through a 12 room frame building. Nearby buildings were saved and records plus athletic gear were removed. Officials said Dante students would be re housed in other county schools, similar to Castlewood arrangements.
