John Fines, 28, of Steen and township in Christian County, was adjudged insane Monday and committed to the Jacksonville hospital. He had previously been an inmate of the asylum five years earlier.

Death of Blue Mound proprietor Ananias Parker at 78
Ananias Parker proprietor of the Blue Mound hotel died last Friday morning at 8 o clock after a kidney ailment. Funeral services were Sunday at 10 at his residence led by Mrs. J R Crank of the Christian church. Burial followed at Waltz cemetery. Parker was 78, a quiet respected citizen.

Jos Miller Macon county treasurer attended a two day Springfield gathering of the County Treasurers association. They discussed creating pay for supervising assessments under a new law. A salary raise tied to county population was proposed, with Macon county in the 40 000 to 60 000 range suggested to gain 1500 dollars annually. The group adjourned to meet again in January 1900. Jesse Miller will oversee assessors and hire help as needed.
