Epworth League Hold Social and Plans for Christmas Baskets
Mrs Philip Ronstadt entertained the Epworth League at Elm Street last Friday night for a pleasant gathering. A ten cent social is planned for December 5 in the Sunday school rooms to raise funds for Christmas baskets for the poor. A short program of music and reading will precede the social. Reverend Mueller and others attended combined German M E congregations meetings in Chicago and Thanksgiving services were held Wednesday evening. Sunday’s Epworth League program is led by Mrs Minnie Klein with the topic The Foreigner in the United States.

Painter Charles Meyers Hurt In Tinley Park Crash
Charles Meyers a painter for Martin Renfro was injured when Renfro’s auto skidded into a ditch near Tinley Park late Tuesday evening. Meyers suffered two broken ribs and left arm injuries and was taken to St Francis hospital in Blue Island where doctors expect a short hospital stay and a full recovery.

Runaway Boys Returned to Blue Island From Louisville
Chief Ben Kairsch brought back Morton Wesley Smith age 15 and Hallis Gleason Wilkinson 14 to Blue Island from Louisville Kentucky after the boys fled seeking the South. Their guardians and addresses are noted and the youths were found well cared for by Louisville police. The boys had paid their way to Louisville and were recognized on the return trip by the conductor who had aided their initial journey.

Horse Falls on R R Bridge Near Stony Creek
A horse owned by Joseph Berger of 195 Western avenues wandered from the barn about 1:90 am Wednesday, became wedged on the Stony Creek bridge and broke a leg. Officer Malmquist found the animal in fogged tracks and had it shot after assistance to avert a possible train derailment.
