Contingent Draft Leaves Blue Island for Jefferson Barracks
A new contingent of men from Blue Island leaves early Saturday morning for military service. Most go to Jefferson Barracks Missouri with a smaller group sent to other points. The list includes many local youths such as I. B. Post a former Blue Island high school instructor and names from Lemont Oak Lawn Worth Chicago and Riverdale among others. They report at 7:00 a.m. at city hall and depart at 7:45 a.m. via Rock Island railroad for Chievo then to St Louis, escorted by Snyder's band police exemption board and city officials. An immense crowd is expected at the station to bid them farewell.

A Bad Bunch The Raven Colts Cause Disorder on Decoration Day
On Decoration Day a group known as the Raven Colts from Stock Yards caused trouble after a Grove outing. They smashed light probes in a car, police were called, but when officers searched the crowd none were found to admit acts, and the group dispersed with their vehicle before arrests could be made.
