Patriotic Day at High School Features Student Performances
The Central Parent-Teacher Association hosted a February patriotic day at the high school auditorium. The Lutheran churches nationwide launched a major drive to support soldiers with literature and chaplains in camps and France. PTA Hosts Evening of Entertainment at Lincoln School
The Lincoln school PTA staged a Feb 21 program with vocal solos by Kent and Borthwack from Harvey and Mrs. Mackie of Roseland, a bagpipe solo by Mr. Kilday of Pullman, and a Scotch dance by Miss Anna Scott’s pupils. Burnett Olmsted Remembered as Promising Local Youth
Burnett Olmsted son of Rev. N P and Mrs Olmsted died February 22 after a brief illness in Blue Island where he had lived with his parents for just over a year. Born June 3 1990 in Otis Colorado he was a cheerful earnest student and active leader in the high school class of 1900. He served as senior class president joined the Boy Scouts and acted in plays and church activities. The Congregational church noted his devotion to Sunday school and Young People's Society and his funeral was held at the church with a sermon by Dr Ozora S Davis addressed to the youth and bereaved family. A stanza about a kindly nurse inviting rest closed the tribute.
