Blue Island announces Home Coming Week from August 10 to 15. Blue Island Aerie of Eagles and the Commercial Association collaborate with committees chaired by Alvin Dertz and Harry Rohrbach to stage a street carnival by Westcott Carnival Company. Fifteen street shows, tents, forty concessions, and uniform street decorations will attract visitors. Max Ephriam oversees the decor, with emphasis on inviting former residents to return for a town reunion.

Grand Theatre Closes for Summer Season
The Grand Theatre ends its regular season with a last Sunday show and will present only Saturday and Sunday night performances for three months. Acts will include vaudeville and motion pictures with 5 and 10 cent admissions. Regular nightly shows resume in September. The Lyric continues pictures through the summer with featured titles on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

St Donato Church Plans Third Annual Procession and Feast
The congregation of St Donato church will host a third annual procession and feast on Sunday June 14 1914 honoring St Anthony. A dance is scheduled Saturday night from 8 to 12 and Sunday from 5 to 12 at the St Donato church hall corner Division and Orange streets with games and a fireworks display at 10 pm Sunday on church grounds. Four Armed Men Rob Mt. Olivet Cemetery Vault
Night watchman James Nolan was bound and gagged as four men robbed the cemetery vault at Mt. Olivet Monday night. They took $10 and a gold watch valued at 165 dollars, then searched Nolan and fled. The vault reportedly held over 1000 dollars the previous Saturday.

Two Lietzau Brothers Drown While Fishing at Lansing
Albert Lietzau aged 25 and his brother Arthur 22 drowned after a leaky boat capsized on the Cedar River near Lansing Michigan. Witnesses saw the accident and a rescue party recovered the bodies but resuscitation failed. The brothers had lived with an uncle in Lansing since leaving Blue Island.
