Town Clerk Emil Wanek of Washington Heights and Constable Henry Garret of Morgan Park received no nomina tion for highway commissioner. All candidates pledged to withdraw from the Fernwood Progressive ticket and stand solid for the Straight Republican ticket. Otto Reich was unanimously chosen as town central committee chairman with Wm Petro of Gano as secretary as precinct committeemen were selected and the convention adjourned.

Died from burns at North Shore plant and fatal fire
R. W. Miller died at St. Francis hospital from burns suffered at the North Shore electric plant last week. An inquest was held by Deputy Coroner Welch at Kruger's morgue. Teresa Breanga, 34, died after a matches fire at 457 State Street. her mother found her unconscious as flames enveloped her. Deputy Coroner Welch also presided over the inquest for the child at 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Fires Threaten Seipp Brewery Loft As Pigeons Nest
A pair of fires broke out in the Seipp Brewing Co warehouse loft on High street near the IC tracks when pigeons nesting under a hot stove pipe ignited straw and litter. Three fire companies fought the blaze, which caused little structural damage though several old pigeons and many squabs perished. A separate blaze at the Old Morgan Place on Maple Avenue near Union and High streets burned the roof and upper walls, caused by a chimney spark, damaging an historic residence once linked to William Morgan and now occupied by Herman Runge and family.
