Second Interurban car kills Blue Island boy near Union Street
Raymond Pronger, 11, son of Mr. and Mrs. Emery C. Pronger of 165 Union Street, died after being struck by a southbound Chicago Interurban car at Western Avenue and Union Street. The accident, witnessed by Emil Gross and John Johnson, led to charges of criminal carelessness against Conductor Ward Smith and Motorman Leslie Niles, with bond set at $10,000 each. Funeral services were held at the English M.E. Church with interment at Mt. Greenwood.

Child Welfare Concert Promised by PTA in February
The Parent-Teachers Association presents the Second Annual Child Welfare concert at Saenger Hall on Friday evening February 20. The program features high school orchestra, soloists including Helen Zach aria and Rev K A Johnson, violin and piano solos, vocal duets and trios, cornet and tenor performances, and a song in unison America. A candy booth will offer homemade candy, and tickets are on sale at Morstroms and Dare and Stables with canvassing by Camp Fire Girls.

Longtime Bremen Blue Island resident Martha Storz dies at 88
Martha Storz died Saturday Feb 7 at her daughter’s home 25 Broadway Blue Island aged 88 years nearly three months after a four month illness. Funeral services were held from Evangelical Lutheran Salem church and Trinity church Bremen township with burial beside her husband who died 1909. She was born November 15 1826 in Germany and came to America in 1856. Survived by ten children eight living, forty seven grandchildren and forty two great grandchildren.
