Editor Bradute’s Demise in Bloomington At 32
Walter Samuel Bradfute died Tuesday at noon, aged 32. He was editor of a local paper and active in wartime Fourth of July events. Night Riders Fail to Lynch Conard Brothers in Farm Patch
Early Sunday morning 100 Night Riders tried to execute the two Conard brothers who had been acquitted of patricide. The youths fired from a corn patch behind their cabin as Regulators battered the door, mortally wounding five farmers and forcing the lynching bee to be postponed.
