A crank locates his target and finds Cavens Isenhow er dispensing drugs at the north side of the square. The note praises them for pure drugs and satisfactory service at fair prices after a year in business.
A dense local column lists farm sales, land deals, business changes, and public notices in Bloomfield and nearby towns. Items include properties for sale in Smith township, short ads from S B Coen, recent marriages, school teacher license exams, monument vendors, a church event with Mormon Elders, and a public road petition. Street disturbances and train timetable rumors add color to a busy week.
June first marks the expiration of Alex Dobbins license and closure of his saloon leaving only two in Bloomfield as he says it does not pay to keep it. The district also reports the first use of the ball and chain on offenders for street labor. Additionally notes warn of brutal infant deaths in China and a corn auction near Bushrod with 300 to 400 bushels to be sold at public sale Monday at 10 am through Joan F. Mees.
The list shows George F. Roach and Susan Lawrence. Wm. B Squire and Mollie J. Wakefield. John Henning and Sarah J. Williams. An advertised salve claims to cure burns and skin conditions with a money back guarantee at 25 cents a box, sold by S. Stalcup.
Carpenters woodworkers and farmers are urged to obtain Gage’s Self-Setting Plane from Gage Tool Co Vineland N J via a 30 days trial as no Bloomfield dealer carries the item. Householders are invited to write for circulars.

D B Hatfield sold his fifty three acre farm one half mile east of the court house on Monday to Mr A Shaffer of Sullivan for fifty dollars an acre cash. Shaffer gave the farm to his daughter Mrs Anson Hildebrand. Hatfield to hold public sale of personal property May 23 and plans to move to Wichita Kansas near early July to make a new home.
The new Twice a Week edition of Tom St. Louis RePuBLIC reports phenomenal success. A six page semi weekly paper priced at one dollar annually offers half a week advance and serves as a home and family journal. The semi annual convention for domestic missions in Knox Greene Sullivan and Daviess counties begins June 2 at 7 30 p m in the Christian church at Linton and runs through the following Wednesday and Thursday A committee on entertainment will see attendees are well provided for The gathering invites full attendance and William J Trout is secretary Also included are notices praising Dr Pierce Golden Medical Discovery and a tax payers delinquent notice urging timely payment before June 10 with deputy collectors to enforce collection if needed.

Letsinger, Christian S B, Baptist S S, and C P S C with names such as Capt. J. D. Alexander, Jos. Corbley, Thos Skinner, Wm Moss, W W Moffett, 8 W Axtell, Thos Ryan, Emerson Short, O W Shryer, J H Seneff, Lizzie Timmons, Gertie Cushman, D W Crockett, Will Axtell, Nettie Buskirk, John Cravens, John Rankin, and A J Shields.
In a steady stream of visitors to the area, Geo Sparks, J W Middleton, Hon M C Falk, Frank Reid of Lyons, A C Starnes of Worthington, J M Bovenschen of Switz City, De Lare Scott of Newberry, S H Carnahan of Worthington, Pete Stalcup the Lyons grocer, and many others are recorded in town on various days this week. Officials, lawyers, teachers, and merchants from nearby townships attended court and social events, with many staying briefly to visit family, attend encampments, or conduct business.
The wife of W S Dye of Owensburg died suddenly Tuesday morning after a brief illness following Monday evening discomfort. The death, likely from a syncope, leaves a month old baby and seven other children, a husband and many friends. She was about 45 and highly esteemed for her Christian life. many attended the funeral Wednesday as a tribute.
The Moore trial drew large crowds as John 8. Baya and Moffet Davis led the defense with Frank Moore aided by ex Senator Fowler for the prosecution. Hulse opened for the state and Moffet for the defense, ending with a not guilty verdict after extensive testimony.
Journal records show James P and David G Hitt were granted a $90.75 judgment against Simon P Stalcup. A jury ruled in favor of defendants in Dr H I Sherwood vs Penn BR B C, finding no employment. M H and O W Shryer were awarded $445.83 against Ben F and Edward Faller.
Ross Elrod son of a M E minister faced arrest after admitting to stealing a suit and personal items from Hert & Graham. He wore the clothes from the store and was observed in public before being confronted, later confessing and awaiting transfer to prison. He pleaded guilty and drew a year in state prison.
