The report notes a platform reading by W H English in which the Democratic party of Indiana renews fidelity to the constitution and founders, pledges an honest economical administration, and resists federal power overstepping constitutional boundaries, upholding states rights and people’s powers.
The text praises the entire nation for President Leveland's successful administration after a hard start, noting the difficult and embarrassing circumstances at the time of coming into power.
A party platform endorses Governor Tsaue DP Gray as the Democratic nominee for vice president. Delegates are instructed to present his name to the national convention and cast votes for him if his name is entered. The platform passes without dissent.
The convention, under Mr. Jewett, nominated three candidates for supreme judges for the first, second, and fourth districts. Win B. Wiblack was named for the first district, Hor G. Hawk and Hugh D. McMullen for the second, and Willie E. Charalt for the fourth amid strong votes. Ro W. Miers was nominated for Secretary of State, Auditor, Treasurer, and Reporter.
Mr M J Niblack chairman of the second district Democratic committee announces a June 3 convention at French Lick Springs to nominate a congressman for the second district. The Democratic editorial association meets there the same day. John W Kern will attend and speak as the nominated reporter of the supreme court. Kern helped nominate Gov Gray in St Louis. Joint representatives will be chosen by Orange Crawford Lawrence Orange and Dubois counties at the same gathering.
Notice urges trustees Bland and Bogard style publication of business days. The Democrat should print notices for democratic trustees and advertise the township’s days for doing business. It promotes using local suppliers like DeMockaT job rooms for blank receipts and letterheads.
