Greene County Teachers Institute Opens in Bloomfield 1889
The Greene County Teachers Institute met August 26 1889 in Bloomfield Indiana with about 96 attendees at 10:30 a.m. Supt W M Moss led the opening including songs prayers and remarks on making the institute constructive and enjoyable. Prof J W Carr urged lifelong learning, character, and progressive teaching as the session began. Enrollment reached 105 by afternoon session and discussions covered penmanship history language reading arithmetic and ventilation along with officer reports and plans for next year.
