Memorial services in Blackfoot observed 2 o’clock funeral hour for President William McKinley. Citizens paused business and work as church bells rang, with readings prayers and a chancery of tributes in a packed court room. Resolutions lauded McKinley’s leadership and character, pledging sympathy to his family and nation.
John J. Williams a leading Dubois merchant and prominent Fremont County figure died on Wednesday September 18 1901. He built a successful business and leaves many friends to mourn his passing.

Ed Hartdegaun, an elderly resident known in Blackfoot, arrived to manage a Cleveland avenue tent store for E. Thum at Ross Park. He appeared insane but nonviolent and left for recovery. later reports say he recovered and socialized with friends, in ordinary health.
The Orbert Slough Ditch Company in Blackfoot Idaho levies assessment No 37 of 25 cents per share on all capital stock. Unpaid shares by October 9 will be delinquent and advertised for sale. payment before November 10 will prevent sale to cover the assessment and costs.
