Bannock County approves a 15000 dollar appropriation for a new county courthouse. The item appears amid a stream of local notes on politics, officials, church events, and civic notices from the recent election period.
A southbound passenger train collided with a fast freight at Beaver Canon Thursday night and wrecked the freight. Two hog cars were killed and sent to a scalding vat. The passenger train suffered little damage and no injuries occurred among passengers or crews. The report cites disregard of orders by an engineer as the cause.
Evangelist Rozelle and his wife concluded a well attended series at the Baptist church with four immersions on Tuesday and seven or eight new members added. They move on to Idaho Falls as Dr. Cooper faces another charge for practicing medicine without a license, with a $50 fine paid previously and a trial set before Justice Montgomery next Wednesday.
Special services at the M. E. Church Sunday evening begin at 7 30. Col J W Jones will address the Epworth League on The Lesson of a Voyage on the Deep. A special song service is planned. All are invited by Pastor W C Prices.
The Geo. HB. Thomas Post of G. A. R. will hold its regular annual meeting at Masonic hall in Blackfoot on Saturday December 8 at 2 o clock in the afternoon. An inspection and election of officers will be part of the business. Full attendance requested by Commander J. Porter.
Lyle Burkman a young man known to the Blackfoot people for three or four years has been sentenced to ninety days in county jail on petit larceny. The case involved stealing from a diligent young woman making an honest living. The article laments the decline of his true manhood and notes the victim’s industrious efforts.
A visitor from a distant state criticized Blackfoot as behind the times citing lack of water works electric lights and sidewalks while praising business potential. He noted his home state may send new residents to Blackfoot or to nearby Kootenai county and urged the town to attract them with reforms and services. The note ends with local business pitches and a remark about The Issue Prohibition paper suspending publication after an election.

A. M. Clement of Bryan in Bingham County Idaho filed an estray notice on November 13 1900 with the County Auditor stating he took up an iron-grey seven year old horse branded 2 on left shoulder weighing about 1300 pounds. Owner may recover upon payment of all legal charges within 40 days from filing. Issued by GEO. F. GAGON Auditor and deputy.
