Prices Surge for Fresh Produce Across Eastern Cities
Early this week in St. Louis buyers faced high produce prices with potatoes at 1.08 a bushel versus 20 to 23 cents a year ago. Cabbage reached 2 to 2.25 per 100 pounds, tomatoes 1.75 a bushel, cucumbers 14 a bushel, and peaches 1.00 per urate, all well above last year’s levels due to extreme heat and drought.

Ordinance grants Blackfoot Light and Power Company rights to erect poles and string wires in the village streets for electric light heat and power. It requires completion within twelve months and sets rates including 50 cents per single 16 candle power light and 30.00 per month for each arc light.
