Government Sues Over Timber Worth in Three States

Three timber cases filed in the United States district court allege A K Stoddard cut timber on the east fork of Bear river in Uinta county Wyoming valued at 17712. Henry Harkness timber in Bannock county Idaho valued at 919.60. A D Quantrell and Blackfoot Lumber Co timber in Bannock county valued at 2618.

Prices Surge for Fresh Produce Across Eastern Cities

Early this week in St. Louis buyers faced high produce prices with potatoes at 1.08 a bushel versus 20 to 23 cents a year ago. Cabbage reached 2 to 2.25 per 100 pounds, tomatoes 1.75 a bushel, cucumbers 14 a bushel, and peaches 1.00 per urate, all well above last year’s levels due to extreme heat and drought.

Wallace Worden longtime Blackfoot and West Side resident died in Phoenix on July 12 from dropsy of the heart. His family, still in Arizona, may move to Idaho or to Baker City Oregon where the widow's father lives.

Hilton Case Continues Hearing in Idaho Falls

State of Idaho versus Walter K. Hilton for shooting Frank Hitt of Idaho Falls has been continued from the 29th to Monday August 5. The physician believes Hitt will be strong enough to attend the hearing and testify, adding interest to the case.

Blackfoot Hotel Sold at Sheriff’s Sale

The Blackfoot hotel in Blackfoot was sold at sheriff's sale on Monday to the creditors of W. G. and W. YU. Stufflebeam. C. E. Thum bought two thirds interest while Attorney E. E. Chalmers acquired the remaining third. The property has been tied up in litigation for years.

New stems from Houston report four grader catwaps established in the Houston division with one more expected. Completion aimed by September 1. Heat reached 104 while two light rains cooled the air. The District Court of Idaho’s Fifth Judicial District in Bingham County issues a summons to Cora Martel Archambault in a divorce action filed by Stephen A. Archambault. She must answer within 10 to 40 days depending on service, with grounds of desertion alleged since September 1809 and the plaintiff seeking dissolution of marriage and costs. The clerk is Gro. F. Gage, dated July 16, 1901.

Blackfoot approves 1901 power franchise for lights and wires

Ordinance grants Blackfoot Light and Power Company rights to erect poles and string wires in the village streets for electric light heat and power. It requires completion within twelve months and sets rates including 50 cents per single 16 candle power light and 30.00 per month for each arc light. The franchise lasts fifty years with bond conditions of 35000 and a July 15 1901 approval by Chairman Joan W. Jones and Clerk S D Hilgamp.
