Land Commissioner Sparks tenders his resignation after a heated exchange with Secretary of the Interior over Omaha land grant indemnity. He asserts the secretary seeks to substitute force for argument and cites legal disputes, including the Winona case, as justification for stepping down.

Commission er Sparks received from the president a letter accepting his resignation to take effect today. In Duseque Louisiana a bomb was found and exploded near a boiler in the town iron works late at night. About twenty workers on the night shift faced flames and noise but escaped major harm. The device, a two foot pipe with fuse, likely intended to injure workers. authorities hunt an anarchist or grudges against the plant.
An early morning blast at the Hancock chemical works packing house in Hancock Michigan leveled the building. Six men died Willie Ronand Charlie Baskill Thomas Thompson William Crowley Willie King William Lepb and fifteen hundred pounds of dynamite were stored inside. The explosion was felt across Hancock and Houghton several miles away.
The Northern Pacific pressed a United States court action to enforce ownership of lands in Dakota pre-empted and entered by named defendants following government land offices at St Cloud and Fargo. Judge Nelson ordered defendants to show cause why an injunction should not issue. Hearing set for December 12.

Captain A M Mills a harbor boat owner shot and killed Austin Rising at her Compress Street residence then locked himself in his room and died by suicide. Mills, a widower, had been infatuated with the woman and embroiled in financial difficulties leading to the fatal act in Dernort Micat Nov 17.
Native miners in Pocahontas blocked Hungarian workers on Nov 18 causing injuries though no fatalities reported. Gov deployed forces to scene as both sides fortified. Employers press to restart Hungarian labor while locals protest.
