Watsons Establishment Brings Large Dry Goods Stock

J W Watson returns from Boston and New York with one of the largest stocks of dry goods clothing and ladies furnishing goods ever seen in the market. The 25 by 100 foot store with two warehouses displays a vast assortment including prints ginghams silks and millinery. They offer low prices and claim readiness for military mining and river trade with extensive lines in boots hats and groceries totaling at least thirty five thousand dollars in new goods.

Tongue River Post to Be Built at Mouth of Big Horn

Col Buell of the 11th Infantry will oversee the new military post at the mouth of the Big Horn. Buildings will use square logs and paper board construction inspired by Standing Rock, aiming for greater comfort and better appearance than Lincoln plan. The St Paul papers say 600 carpenters will leave for Bismarck as river opens for war on Tongue River post. A mail route from Bismarck via Tongue River posts to Sarpy Tallack Ellis to Bozeman, Mont., will likely be ordered into service soon.
