In Decatur on the D&E line three young men Ivey Woodard and McKim planned a ride home by boxcar. A fight led to McKim shooting Ivey while Woodard fired at McKim. Ivey lay dying as the deputy and conductor intervened. McKim and Woodard were jailed. Ivey gravely wounded.
