Gladstone in Glasgow draws vast crowd for speech

In Glasgow on June 22, Mr and Mrs Gladstone arrived to a great greeting as Hengler's Circus hall packed for Gladstone's remarks. He pressed Protestant security in Ulster, Scottish union with England, and Scotland's home rule, denying Ireland would be independent under any bill.

ANOTHER RAILROAD STRIKE ON LAKE SHORE ROAD CHICAGO

The Lake Shore Switchmen at the Union stock yards quit at 2 30 PM over eight fired men. Mob attacked trains at Forty Third street and Englewood lines. Conductor Charles Elihart and switchman John Berger injured. No arrests.

Morrison Reports Rules Debate and Civil Bill Motion

In the house today Mr Morrison moved to adopt the committee on rules report amending rules. The house initially refused to consider it, with Republicans filibustering and abstaining from votes until adjournment at six. The dry civil appropriation bill will take priority tomorrow, while the rule change may not be called up. Albert H Scott announced the third annual salary adjustments for presidential postmasters, effective soon.

Little Big Horn tenth anniversary celebration prep

Preparations are complete for the tenth anniversary observance of the Custer massacre at the Little Big Horn battlefield. Captain Godfrey leads arrangements with cavalry and Fifth Infantry.
