Washburn son of W D Washburn and GM of the new railway reports seven miles of track laid on the Washburn to Wilton line using the new engine Washburn. Road expected to reach Wilton by July 1 and be ready for a Fourth of July excursion. Mayor Macomber travels east and may relocate to Wilton then Washburn. General Engineer Dixon surveys cross sections and plans to cultivate nearby land. Eastman and Jake report valuable crops and good prospects for new settlers.
The Knox North Dakota store of Ogland Brothers and adjoining living rooms were destroyed by five blazes, impacting B F Landers, P K Bidney real estate, Lyngard Mellen store with stock partly insured. Jond Brothers suffered 3500 on goods 1000 on buildings and 500 on furnishings. Total loss about 8400 with 1300 insured. Origin of fire remains a mystery.
