Democrats at Grand Forks Convention in July Session

The Democratic convention met near noon at Grand Forks and elected W. E. Purcell as temporary chairman with W. J. Mooney as secretary. Two Hundred Horses Cremated In Great Fire At Knox Stables

Fire swept through Knox stables on Band Second streets and nearby buildings in Washington, killing at least four firefighters and destroying over 200 draught horses along with express wagons and stock. Four Die as Elevator Fails at Clausen de Price Brewery

Four men were killed and one fatally injured when an elevator broke at Clausen de Price's brewery in New York City. Victims named Louis Buer, Bernard Smith, Tony Farrell, and Henry Hombier. William Emmett also injured. The accident occurred as the grain hoist car toppled onto workers in the pit below.

Small Chicago Riot Leaves Officer Wounded and Rioter Fatally Shot

In Chicago at the Grand Trunk yards on Forty ninth Street a clash between strikers and police left Policeman Lindgret wounded by stones and coupling pins. He returned fire, likely fatally wounding Alex Hart and wounding another striker, Doliisgan, as a rioter was arrested.
