He says it will strain party loyalties, shape Canada United States relations, and split Ottawa’s ministerial circle, with liberal Globe and independent Star contending for influence.
Pioneer Press notes a major snow storm raging across the northwest with Brainerd reports of heavy drifting. Northern Pacific passenger trains are delayed and freights abandoned while the Soo line moves a flour train of 100 cars from Minneapolis to the east in five sections. Each car section carries product from local mills and aims at Boston Philadelphia and London markets.
Fire at Lovelock within the Brooklyn Navy Yard gutted the Navigation Building a three story brick block housing navigation construction and improvement bureaus. Loss estimated around 200000 the contents including valuable military maps plans and drawings. Initial aid refused by officials then the city fire department was summoned and at 2 o clock flames were under control.
