At the regular meeting of the Ministerial association of Dubuque the enforcement of the present state mulot law was discussed. It was determined it can be enforced in the city as elsewhere and the association will make an effort to do so.
The Osceola panty farmers' institute arranged winter sessions at Sibley Ashton and Ocheyedau with lectures by professors from the State agricultural college. At the annual tax sale several townships stood clear on the treasurer's books with no delinquencies for taxes.
In a South Dakota report three counterfeiters named John Krewson S B Sosha and Allen Newport were examined by United States Commissioner Cooper after their arrest Saturday. They were lodged in jail. Another item notes the soldiers home at Hot Springs South Dakota seeking a $60,000 two year appropriation from the upcoming legislature for maintenance.
Mrs Ferragolin suffered severe burns after a lamp exploded in her home in Minn Dec 6. The house was not on fire but Attorney Bell acted quickly, smothering flames by smothering the carpet. Her clothing burned away and medics feared for her recovery.
Fire at Exposition hall on Thirteenth and Capitol in Omaha destroys the hall and nearby church. Theatre, stores, and hotel burned. total loss around 175000 with half insured. Fire blamed on rapid spread and weak water pressure. Also notes Ottawa dynamite explosion, Huntington blast, and other local incidents.
The U S Supreme Court will hear the Last Chance Mining Company versus Tyler Mining Company dispute over following mine ledges beyond claim boundaries. Tyler argues $200 000 in ore belongs to it while Last Chance cites $700 000 spent on ore development. attorneys for both sides are W B Heyburn O S Voorhees for Last Chance and Senator Dolph J B Moride for Tyler.
The Northern Pacific railroad asks Judge Thomas to restrain tax sales of lands in Stutsman Burleigh Wells McLean Morton Stark and Mercer counties over 1898 taxes. It argues funds are not taxable as patents were not issued and selection lacks interior department approval, plus court permission is pending due to the railroad being in receivership.
A Nebraska City dispatch reports the district court ruling that students at the state institute for the blind must leave the school after their courses. The decision cites expulsion by writ of ouster and maintains the remaining program ends with the students' departure. The case hinges on the court's interpretation of permanent stay versus program completion.
Norwatx C December 5. Surveyors from Carnegie & Phipps of Pittsburg work between Milan and Huron along the Huron river from Lake Erie to navigation head. Local residents allege the firm seeks a new plant site near Lake Erie for possible relocation.
Dec 5 note from McArrtanour O shows K A Black and Rebecca Davis wed Saturday night, a remarriage after earlier 1850 ceremony. Their child was young when Black left for the West, leading to divorces and rewed spouses including James Gibbs and Lymor Jarvis. The widow resided in Chillicothe years, and Black recently located her after prior letters.
Banking and Currency Committee members Mr Cox and Rep Bland met to discuss financial measures. Cox hints at a possible report this session but passage is uncertain while Bland pushes a free coinage bill. Across the House there is doubt about any major financial action this session. A Democratic Senate caucus is set after adjournment to map a general policy program including tariff, canal, anti option, bankruptcy and territorial bills.

The World correspondent at Rome reports Mgr Corrigan has written to several New York figures criticizing Archbishop Treland's campaign in the diocese for the Republicans. He says if he had gone to Minnesota to advocate for the Democrats, Rome would likely denounce him and demand his pension.
Lortera from Mongo, capital of Uganda, dated end of September, detail severe clashes in Unyoro where King Kaboregu attacked the British fort at Hoima on the river. British forces repulsed the attack with many killed and wounded, including the king’s sons and several chiefs.
Maggie Johnson, a singular figure described as half adult and half infant in appearance, died at age 17 near her residence in Jupsoma Arkansas. Her body reportedly showed no teeth and no bones, described as a mass of muscles by locals.
