A Crawford county man reports that a White Cap meeting near Marietta ended in a decision to disband. He says the group was thoroughly aroused and could be forced to hide if the governor does not intervene and support their aims.

Net Kinney Chief of Bald Knobbers Killed in Ozark Clash

Capt Net Kinney famed Bald Knobbers leader was shot dead at Ozark in Christian county by Miles an anti Bald Knobber. They met at a Republican rally, quarrelled, drew, and Kinney was killed instantly. Miles fled the scene and Kinney’s followers warned more bloodshed may follow. A second report notes a separate shooting at White Stone Hill near Oak involving Ole and Peter Wiekiane with a fatal wound.

Close Battle for Temporary Chairman in North Dakota Caucus

In Washington on August 21 the Senate debated the fisheries treaty and rejected the ratification resolution by party lines. Senator Pratt pressed to approve Washington, North Dakota, and Montana admissions next, while Dolph’s Chinese prohibition amendment failed.
