The American Bimetallic convention gathered in the city with large attendance, electing W. Thurman of Ohio as permanent chairman. Speakers included A. J. Warner and P. Powderly. Ignatius Donnelly and others urged free silver and hard money, framing a unified stance across parties.
The convention summit drew a packed hall as Senator Stewart of Nevada spoke for an hour and a half, discussing silver location legislation and diplomacy for fifty years. He linked a bankers panic, Indian demonetization, and calls to repeal the Sherman Act to a conspiracy led by England. Congressman Bryan of Nebraska also spoke at length. A report from Moxtcomeny Texas recalls a brutal assault last Saturday nine miles north of town. Henry Reynolds, a Black man, killed Mr Marsh, maimed the couple's children, and assaulted Mrs Marsh. He was identified, captured, and hanged on Friday evening, ending the crime.
