Telegraph report details unprecedented snow storm in southern Michigan near Saginaw blowing trains off tracks and delaying service. Other notes cover Greece marking independence, LaCrosse fire losses near one million dollars, and various election results across multiple towns with licensed tickets and mayoral races.
The Knights of Labor assemblies 101 9 and 17 issue an appeal denouncing John Dustin Gould as a giant of corporate wealth. They call for overthrow of his monopolies, describe wages and working conditions, blacklisting, and boycotts, urging unity of workmen to defend liberty and future generations. Also reports a windstorm near East Saginua causing a derailment injuring eleven.
A Fitchburg line eastbound passenger train plunged 200 feet down a Deerfield River bank near Bardwells Ferry. many died or were burned as cars scattered the slope. Rescue teams worked through the night. fault lines, weather and river conditions hindered efforts. Separate items report a Halifax schooner wreck, West Virginia flood fuel shortage, and political notes on coinage, public lands, and postmaster appointments.

London April day marked by unprecedented excitement in the House of Commons as Gladstone outlines a bill for the future government of Ireland. The plan envisages a Dublin parliament with two-branch veto, a non-political viceroy, limited royal powers, and shared imperial funds.
In Kanana Parsons and surrounding towns two more military companies head home Saturday leaving two on the ground named the Lawrence and Ulathe. The law and order league telegrams Parsons to assure property damage within its limits will be covered by the city. Special to the Pioneer Press notes a Chicago and Northwestern line extending north from Columbia toward La Moure with scattered references to others and a diamond valued at $40,000.
