Notes and news cover postmaster appointments, politics, rail and mining ventures, legal actions, and local incidents in Dakota Territory with references to governors, congress, and regional developments.
The four story Montreal Novelty Works building in St Paul was destroyed by fire. As walls fell nine people were killed and many rushed to hospital with serious injuries. The report notes a heavy snowstorm across Minnesota Iowa and Nebraska and mentions regional rail and political items alongside errands of local figures.
