Montana Voters Face Three Constitutional Ballot Measures
Helena July 6 official begeind today notes that by November Montanans will likely vote on three proposed amendments and a slot machine referendum. Initiatives press to legalize gambling and expand government departments face weak signature progress, with about 4,000 of the required 17,849 signatures collected for the Montana veterans compensation measure. The others seek to create a department of agriculture, a department of labor and industries, and to raise city or district indebtedness. A statewide slot machine referendum could abolish state and local licensing laws if approved, with county level referenda possible to permit or ban machines.
