Parking on Highway A Dangerous Thing
Parking on the main traveled portion of the highway is a dangerous practice and against the law says Montana highway supervisor Chag L Sheridan. In 1947 there were 87 accidents from improper parking, two fatal, plus 226 summons for the offense. The illustration shows proper stopping off the road and the danger of loitering near parked vehicles. Historical note cites a Lord Chief Justice of England on highways as nuisances.
